In Memoriam Angelina Teela Torres, 36 years old born November 15, 1984 of West Palm Beach, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, November 15, 2020.

Angelina leaves behind a loving family, daughter, Leilani Torres, mother, Awilda Cruz, brother, Nikki Cruz, nephews, Daniel Cruz, Tomas Cruz, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Angelina also leaves behind her family at Teen Challenge, a family that enabled her to find her faith and identity in Christ and whom she was able to travel with on international missions trips to share God’s message of hope and restoration.

In 2008, Angelina graduated from Palm Beach State Nursing Academy and worked as a pediatric nurse in St. Mary’s Hospital. She loved nursing because she loved helping others.

Angelina was an artist. Not only did she love to paint , write poetry and create but she also loved music, a gift inherited from her father, the late Tomas V. Cruz. In 2020, Angelina started #freedomfriday, a Facebook vlog where she shared her personal testimony and message of hope to hundreds via social media. It quickly became a lifeline for many.

Angelina will be remembered for her infectious laugh, generosity and beautiful spirit. She gave everyone she came into contact with her absolute best. She took pride in helping her Teen Challenge sisters feel their best inside and out. Angelina used her gifts to bless and encourage so many people and she leaves a legacy of faith and restoration only found in Christ.

“I took you from the ends of the earth, from its farthest corners I called you. I said, 'You are my servant'; I have chosen you and have not rejected you.” Isaiah 41:9

I met Angelina on a Teen Challenge missions trip. I immediately saw that she was such a kind and understanding person.

She was fluent in Spanish and throughout the whole trip I watched God use her in such an incredible way. She was so selfless and put others above herself by translating whenever she was needed and by sharing her testimony The people we were ministering to were drawn to her light and joy, and she was so instrumental.

Anytime I was with Angelina we were laughing. If I could say anything to Angelina I would want her to know that I love her.

I am deeply sorry for the loss of your beautiful Teela who I remember as always having so much exuberance and a brilliant smile as a child. I understand full well the depth of loss and the tremendous pain that it brings. I pray that the Holy Spirit provide constant comfort and the renewed strength needed daily. You will be in my prayers.

At a loss and not really sure what to say as this is tough. While we went our separate ways for some time, I can't help but to think of all the fun memories we shared and how close we were. Teela was such a vibrant person with an electric personality and a smile to match! I will always cherish the moments we shared! I hope her family (and most of all daughter) find strength to see them through as I know that's what she would like. I find comfort in knowing she has found her peace and is with the Lord and hope eventually they can too. Condolences and prayers.

Angelina your passing hit me hard. I was so devastated to hear the news. You were such a good person. I reminisce on all of the memories we have together. I’ll never forget the many conversations we had about the decisions you wanted to make and praying with you over and over about them. Jesus loves you so much and I know you are with him now. This was such big loss, you had so much potential and love to share. I know you touched so many. Your memory will never fade sister...we will always keep you and your family in our hearts and prayers...your TC family loves you and will miss you so much.

I went to the Teen Challenge program with Angelina. When I first came in she was my big sister. I got close to her over time. We always loved to make each laugh till we cry. I really miss her. She also has taught a few things in the kitchen that I didn't understand. We were so close that I actually accepted her as my true sister. I am continuing with prayers for all her friends and family and all the people that she has touched with her love . Love you Angie, sis. Miss you so much.❤😭

I remember Christmas last year, Angelina took her 7 day pass with her mom and Jobita at the Conference Center. I was there to provide anything they needed for the stay but ended up getting to know the family. Even though it was time for family, everyone was so sweet to share time and love with me too. And that carried on through Angelina the entire time I knew her. She and I had our differences and had to talk some things out, but she was always all love. I will miss her smile and her way with words. I will always be inspired by her relationship with the Lord, her relationship with her family, and her relationships with others. You will be forever missed, my friend. I love you!!
All my love to the family. Thoughts and prayers for you during this time. She was truly one of a kind.
