Anita L. Collins of Greenacres FL, beloved wife of William Collins for more than 67 years, died peacefully at home on Wednesday December 30 at age 86.
Born in Brooklyn New York she was the daughter of Alfonso and Leona Moscarello. The family, including her brother Robert, moved to CT in 1943. She graduated from Roger Ludlowe High School in Fairfield CT. Anita met Bill on a blind date and married in 1953. They moved to Bridgeport and then settled in Trumbull where they lived for many years. Bill owned Long Hill Carpet in Monroe, CT and Anita worked by his side in the store. Above all, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and an exceptional homemaker. Her Italian heritage shined through in her cooking as she created the most delicious meals and desserts. There was always room at the table for anyone who dropped by to join family. Her fashion flair and style were uniquely her own. She was a great team bowler and enjoyed socializing and fundraising at church and club groups.
She is predeceased by her parents and son, Kevin T. Collins. She is survived by husband, Bill; son Bill Jr.; daughter Bonnie Lodevole (Pino); grandchildren, Celeste, Gianpaolo (Britta); Meredyth Fisher (Kurt); Lynley Collins and great grandchildren Ruby, Olive, Preston, Paige; and a brother, Robert Moscarello.
