Barbara Ellen Aukerman, age 70, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2025. Born on March 19, 1954, in Dayton, Ohio, she spent her early years in Eaton, where she graduated from Eaton High School. She later earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Central Florida, paving the way for a fulfilling career in education and public service.
A long-time resident of Florida, Barbara lived in both Orlando and Green Acres. She began her career as an administrative assistant for the Village of Wellington before following her true passion—teaching. As an elementary school teacher in the Palm Beach County School District, she dedicated herself to shaping young minds, always on the lookout for new ways to engage and inspire her students.
Barbara was a woman of deep faith, a devoted member of St. Peter’s Methodist Church. She lived with a pure and kind heart, always offering warmth and care to those around her. Her love for nature and sci-fi movies brought her joy, and she especially cherished time spent with her great nieces and nephews, taking an active interest in their lives.
Family was at the center of Barbara’s world. She provided unwavering care and support for her parents during their retirement, reflecting the selfless love she shared with those closest to her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Susannah (née Ehler) Aukerman, and her beloved sister, Jane (née Aukerman) Fagan. She is survived by her nephews, Bradley (Amy) Fagan and David (Christina) Fagan, her brother-in-law, Roger Fagan, and her cherished great nieces and nephews, Brooklyn, Adeline, Calvin, McKenna, and Theo.
A memorial service to celebrate Barbara’s life will be held at a later date in Eaton, Ohio, with interment at Mound Hill Union Cemetery. Her kindness, faith, and devotion to family and community will be dearly missed but forever remembered.
