The family of Charles Edward Martin of Lake Worth, Florida is saddened to announce his passing on Saturday, August 22, 2020 at the age of 94 years. Mr. Martin was born in Riverton, Virginia to Tyson and Eva Martin. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 62 years, Elizabeth and his youngest daughter, Joyce. He is survived by his daughter Connie (Buddy), two grandchildren, Douglas and Nichole, and the light of his life, his great granddaughter, Elizabeth Ann. Charles will also be forever remembered by his numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends. Charles was a WWII veteran serving in the Navy from 1942-1945, then going on to spend another 25 years in the reserve program. He was especially proud to be chosen to go on a Southeast Florida Honor Flight in 2015. Going to Washington DC and visiting the WWII memorial was something he never got tired of talking about. It was an experience of a lifetime for him. The Honor Flight Networks way of saying to all our veterans "One more Tour...With Honor." After retiring from Flowers Baking Co., Charles enjoyed playing golf, watching the Miami Marlins and traveling as much as possible with his family. From visiting his home state of Virginia to boating in the Keys and all the special times spent at their vacation home in the NC Mountains, his greatest joy was spending time with his family. He was the last surviving member of his generation on both sides of our family. He lived a long, full life and we will miss him dearly.
