Cheryl was born in Providence, Rhode Island, to Diane and Dave Mansfield. Dave was in The Air Force, and that caused the family to move to Lincoln, Nebraska, where she would often go with her dad to the car junkyard in her princess dress and get a little greasy. They moved back to Rhode Island, and then to Seminole Manor in Lantana and later to Palm Springs, Florida. She grew up there making many lifetime friends. She also worked at their Shell gas station and began a love of racing that they both competed in, at the Fairgrounds Speedway. After graduating high school and cosmetology school, she met Carl in 1978, and they were married on August 29th, 1981.
Together, they raised their two sons, Bryan and Jason. She was always looking out for them. Cheryl quit her job and became a stay at home mom, starting the first Florida chapter of The Moms Club. As the boys grew older, she became president of the Kirklane PTA to help fund the many needs of the school, including years of helping out at their awesome haunted house, and even parachuting with the principal after a fundraiser dare. Cheryl supported and volunteered for all of their activities, including Cub Scouts, baseball with Bryan and football with Jason. Another group she supported was Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD).
With her family, she hosted several exchange students over a five year period. She showed them how to enjoy living in Florida. Fishing, scuba diving, and many vacations to the Keys every year for lobster season were some of the things she loved to do with family and friends, along with fun trips to the mountains to see snow. She always would have other kids with her that she treated like her own sons and daughters. She also loved her vacations, especially the ones to Colorado, Tennessee for family reunions and her last one, taking Zachary to Washington DC.
Cheryl was a big Medical Marijuana advocate, as it helped keep her Crohn’s Disease in check for several years. She counseled hundreds of others who suffered from the disease. All that time, she was running the family business with her husband.
In the last 20 years, she enjoyed several motorcycle adventures with Carl and several friends that all became extended family. Sturgis, Daytona Leesburg, the Smoky Mountains, the Adirondack Mountains, and the Black Hills were some trips she really enjoyed. She loved visiting her place in Okeechobee and her tiny house at Reese’s Heavenly Hideaway.
Cheryl had a huge, wonderful, loving heart, and was always willing to help family, friends, (and strangers). She so wanted to see her grandson Zachary graduate from high school and be part of Jackson and Landon’s upbringing. She adored them all. She was the best wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, aunt, and cousin. She was that and so much more, and she will be missed but never forgotten. God has brought another Angel home.
Cheryl is survived by her loving husband and soul mate Carl, sons Bryan (Brittany), Jason (Carolyn), grandsons Zachary, Jackson, Landon, mother Diane, sisters Nancy, Kellie (Carl), brother David and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
