I hope you were able to whisper in her ear she was the best sister I could ever have had!  If it wasn't for Doris and her kindnesses to me, I may not have made it!  For example...her spontaneity was over the top and so was your dad's. example!  
On an early fall day she shows up at Noah Torrey Elementary School on Pond Street and has me excused for some reason not known to me at that moment!!!  As we headed home in the car she tells me, "Gene and I are going to NY and you're coming too!"  Obviously she had permission from Grammy. I think my clothes were already packed for me!  
We hit Coney Island after we picked up  your Uncle Vinny in Brooklyn!  He was my date, don't I wish!  It was a blast and guess who had the courage to take the parachute drop with your Uncle Vinny?  Your dad and I watched from the boardwalk ground level!  OMGosh does she really want to do this...then I hit the angel of God prayer...never fails!

I will always value the woman that my daughter calls Grammy as a true matriarch. The woman whose strength guided her children and grandchildren. I truly believe that her legacy will live on through her family, even more so now as a guardian angel. You will be missed.
