He attended Westgate Elementary and Golfview Jr. High school here in West Palm Beach. For several years he was employed by Replacare a paint prep worker. Then he worked for PPG as a sales and service worker. He also went to work for Yellow Cab as a dispatcher on the evening shift. He took this job so that he could be at home during the day to help take care of his dad, when his brother Eddie did the night shift.
After the passing of his dad, he went to work at the Kennel Club compound. This turned out to be his favorite job. That is where he found the love of his life –RAGS the greyhound. He told everyone that when RAGS retired, he would belong to him and it came true. RAGS was his. Later there was a female that he and Sandy fostered until she was adopted. Well, they were “foster failures.” She was ours to keep.
While on vacation, Earl always planned his trips around his stomach and if there was an arcade close by even better. Through his life Earl made many lifetime friends. He as one of the most tender hearted people you would ever meet. He will truly be missed.
A gathering of family & friends for Earl will be held Friday, June 21, 2024 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Dorsey - E. Earl Smith Funeral Home, 3041 Kirk Road, Lake Worth, FL 33461, followed by a celebration of life service at 7:00 PM.
