Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Ed was the beloved son of John and Loretta Ott. He lived a remarkable 102 years, leaving behind a legacy defined by devotion to his family, a love of life, and a lifetime of memories.
Ed proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II, a chapter of his life that reflected the courage, strength, and sense of duty that he carried with him throughout his years.
He also had a lifelong love of golf. Whether enjoying a day on the course or simply watching in on T.V. Ed also volunteered for many years at John Prince Golf Center, where he gave his time and became a familiar and valued presence at the golf center. Through his volunteering, he shared not only his love of the game but also his time, kindness, and friendship with others. Golf brought Ed great happiness and was one of the many things that made life special to him.
Above all, Ed treasured his family. He will be forever missed by his daughters, Carol Murphy of Atlantis, Florida, and Sally Ott of Hypoluxo, Florida; his granddaughter, Heidi Joyce of Palm Springs, Florida; and his great-grandchildren, James and Sloan Joyce of Palm Springs, Florida.
Ed's 102 years were a testament to a life well lived. He witnessed a changing world, served his country, enjoyed the game he loved, and, most importantly, gave his family a lifetime of love and memories.
Funeral services will take place on Saturday, September 12, 2026 at Dorsey E. Earl Smith & Lake Worth Memory Gardens from 11-1PM, 3041 Kirk Road, Lake Worth, FL 33461 and immediately following, family and friends are welcome to a celebration of Ed's life from 2:00-5:00PM at 200 John F. Kennedy Drive, Atlantis, FL 33462.
