Elucien Petit-Homme

Elucien Petit-Homme, born November 29, 1948, entered rest on July 30, 2026, at the age of 77. A beloved and cherished father, Elucien will be remembered for a life marked by steady devotion, quiet bravery, and a faith that guided his steps with sincerity and purpose.

Born in Haut-Moustiques, Haiti, Elucien was the son of Foncius Petit-Homme and Acelia Nervil. He attended primary school at the National School of Haut-Moustiques and completed his secondary studies at Notre Dame De Lourde in Port-de-Paix, Haiti—an early foundation for the values he carried forward: education, honest work, and doing what is right. In 1976, he left Haiti for Guadeloupe to pursue his passion and began his business as a tailor. It was there that he met his first wife, Charline. They married in 1983 and welcomed their children a few years later. In 1987, they moved to Miami, Florida, where they raised their family.

Elucien worked as a residential and commercial security guard, bringing to his work a dependable, hard-working spirit and a strong sense of responsibility. Even in retirement, his work ethic remained constant, and he spent those years working at Publix—continuing to serve others with patience, generosity, and a steady willingness to do what needed to be done.

In marriage and family life, Elucien was devoted and selfless, giving his time and attention with thoughtful care. He was married from 1983 to 2008 to Charline Dantes (Deceased 08/2024), and from 2011 until his passing to Marie Chantale Apollon (Deceased 01/2025). He is survived by his children: Rachelle Petit-Homme; Ingride Petit-Homme and family; Changela Petit-Homme and family; and Samuel Charles. He was preceded in death by his son, Defontis Petit-Homme (Deceased 9/1995).

He also leaves behind grandchildren Caleb Elliance, Lafortune “Andy” Elliance, Yougens Derival, Paul Stanley Derival, and Adriana Derival; and great-grandchildren Adara Derival and Trinea Derival. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters: Benita Petit-Homme Geffrard and family, Marie Thérèse Petit-Homme Pierre, Eliane Petit-Homme Frédéric and family, Louisanne Petit-Homme Severe and family, and Lafontant Petit-Homme.

Elucien’s extended family was a source of enduring connection and loyalty. He is lovingly remembered by nieces and nephews: Prosper Geffrard and family, Lucner Geffrard and family, Maccene Geffrard and family, Judette Geffrard Omega and family, Betanie Geffrard and family, Wisly Jeff Geffrard and family, Alerne Geffrard and family, Christial Geffrard and family, Jollère Petit-Homme and family, Clanette Petit-Homme and family, Foncilien Petit-Homme and family, Inozère Petit-Homme, Guerla Petit-Homme and family, Kettline Petit-Homme and family, Loristin Guerrier and family, Celiane Guerrier and family, Lovancia Guerrier and family, Cerane Guerrier and family, Externe Bastien, Cenita Petit-Homme and family, Loudy Petit-Homme and family, Judith Omega Semé and family, Anette Pierre and family, and Ginette Pierre and family; as well as cousins Sorel, Odile, Yvon, Wisler, Teranie, Clotude, Micheline, Miyette, and Almaide.

A man of warm presence and steady good humor, Elucien enjoyed the simple joys that brought people together—playing guitar and conga drums, sharing a game of dominoes, and engaging in intellectual debates that reflected a curious and wise mind. He took pride in being well-groomed and stylish, with Pierre Cardin as his favorite brand. He also enjoyed swimming and reading books, making time for both reflection and recreation.

Above all, Elucien was faithful and deeply devoted to his Kingdom Hall and his walk as a Jehovah’s Witness. His life reflected a compassionate spirit and an honest heart—one that sought to encourage, to help, and to remain anchored in prayer. He was known as a kind-hearted and social man, often in a good mood, loyal to family, and generous with his time. He took an active role as a father, participating in school activities and supporting his daughter in becoming a successful woman. He valued family time, and his loved ones will hold close the memories of sharing Chinese food with his daughter after meetings and playing dominoes with his brothers.

With deep sorrow and abiding faith, the family says farewell to a beloved father who walked with grace, served with humility, and loved with a heart anchored in God. He taught resilience, compassion, and the power of prayer. Rest in the peace you so faithfully preached. “Ti Congo.”

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to those who cared for Elucien and spent time with him throughout his illness: Sister Rose from the Kingdom Hall, Judith, Natalie, Jenny, and his daughters Rachelle and Ingride.
