Genevieve Mary Ablicki (Jenny) of Greenacres, Florida passed away on Sunday, October 9, 2022. Genevieve was born July 12, 1928 in Chicopee, Massachusetts to George and Mary Croteau. one of nine children. She married Leopold Ablicki of Chicopee Falls in 1949. He predeceased her in 2003.
She leaves behind her sister, Frances (our favorite aunt), and her husband Tom Wilhelmi of Holyoke MA. Her siblings, Leonard, George, June, Ronald, Irvin, Vincent, and Neil are deceased. She is also survived by her five children and their respective spouses: Leo Ablicki/Dru Marie Robert of Longmont, CO, Frances Ablicki of Greenacres FL, Michael and Cindy Ablicki of Belchertown, MA, Thomas and Debbie Ablicki of Belchertown, MA, and Richard Ablicki/Berengere Tardif-Ablicki of South Hadley MA. Her grandchildren include Shani Jayne, Nathan Ablicki, Wyatt Syriac, Holly Ashley, Matt Ablicki, Jennifer Ablicki, Jonathan Ablicki, and Austin Ablicki, as well as 11 great grandchildren.
While raising her children on an apple orchard in Belchertown, MA , Jenny was “convinced” to make apple pies for sale at the family roadside stand on their property at Liberty Orchards. They were so well received that she soon had a full-time undertaking on her hands. This progressed to apple, peach and blueberry preserves. The family business diversified later into other lines of business that included fashion and clothing. She began managing the Town Toggery in Belchertown center. Soon this new venture added another store in Palmer, MA.
After a number of years, Leo and Jenny relocated to Florida in order to leave the cold Massachusetts winters behind. She continued in fashion sales at a number of different locations in Palm Beach county.
Upon retirement, Jenny volunteered for the American Polish Club and sold Bingo entry cards for many years. She was a quick-witted card and Bingo player — often keeping an eye on and playing the bingo cards of those around her. Jenny loved to patronize the "Arcades" in Florida for amusement (she had lucky hands) and to socialize with her friends. Jenny never failed to have her 5 o’clock Manhattan every evening, — just one, —and she was happy.
We will weally, weally, weally miss you, Jenny, "Mom", Babcia.
