Known to many as Gerry, she will be remembered as a cherished presence—someone whose steady honesty and quiet strength shaped the lives of those who had the privilege to know her. In the ways that matter most, Gerry was deeply beloved, and her absence will be felt with enduring tenderness.
In her retirement years, Gerry found genuine happiness spending time at Disney World with family, embracing those moments of togetherness and joy that become, in time, a family’s most treasured memories.
Gerry is survived by her son, James Smalley, and his wife Ellen; grandchildren, Cara (husband Mat Boyer), Jenna, and Colin; great-granddaughter, Dana Boyer; brothers, E. Robert Gibbons and Edmond Gibbons; sister-in-law Bonnie Gibbons, and sister-in-law Sandie Saltzburg (husband Frank). She is also survived by several loving nephews and nieces: Robbie Gibbons, Kevin Gibbons, Brian Gibbons, Richard DeWitt, Karen Klotz, Lori Barlettano, JoAnne Sarkisian, Kristi Adams, Kristin DeWitt, and Nicki Saltzburg.
Gerry was preceded in death by her loving husband, James D. Smalley Jr., her parents Sarah Belle Gibbons and Earnest Angelo Gibbons, her sister-in-laws Betty Gibbons and Barbara DeWitt.
