

Helen Dean Brunson, aged 98, passed away on June 25, 2023. She was born on November 18, 1924, in Chanute, Kansas, to Fred and Maude Lesan. She was the youngest of six children and moved to Louisville, NE in 1927. Helen graduated from Louisville High School and was honored with the title of "Miss Louisville" during the town festival. She pursued higher education, attending Nebraska Wesleyan and Midland Lutheran Colleges before earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Education at the University of Nebraska-Omaha. Later, she obtained her Master’s Degree in Education at NOVA Southeastern in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.
On December 11, 1943, Helen married F. Ward Brunson in Lincoln, NE. In August of 1966, they relocated to the Town of Lake Clarke Shores, West Palm Beach, FL. Helen dedicated her career to teaching elementary school, serving at various institutions including Louisville, Springfield, and Omaha in Nebraska, as well as Palm Springs, FL. In 1991, she retired from her profession to devote her time to caring for her husband, Ward, a disabled US Army Veteran.
Helen was preceded in death by her daughter, Carol Boudreau, in 1984, and her beloved husband, Ward, in 2004. She is survived by her son, Dean (Cindy) Brunson of Council Bluffs, Iowa, along with four grandchildren: Rebecca (Jon) Schroeder of San Diego, CA; Lauren Boudreau of Delray Beach, FL; Scott (Alicia) Brunson of Moscow, ID; and Bethanie (Jeff) Altrock of Santa Monica, CA. Additionally, she leaves behind six great-grandchildren.
A Funeral Service honoring Helen's life will be held at 6:00 pm on Wednesday, June 28, at Dorsey - E. Earl Smith Funeral Home, located at 3041 Kirk Road, Lake Worth, FL, 33401. Inurnment is scheduled for Friday.
