

Herbert John Weber, 90, died Sept. 16 in West Palm Beach, Fla. A resident of Hypoluxo Island, Lantana, Fla., he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Margaret “Peggy” Florence Weber, to whom he was married for nearly 41 years.
Born in 1934 the Bronx, New York, he was a first-generation American, the son of Josef Weber of Eschelbach, Germany, and Margaret Weber of Litzlohe, Germany. As a child, he attended Holy Family School and Cardinal Hayes High School in the Bronx. He graduated from New York University Academy of Aeronautics and the University of Florida.
He served as a sergeant in the United States Army, and post-military landed a job at Pratt & Whitney in Jupiter, Fla., as an aerospace engineer. The next chapter of his career took him to Bache and Company in West Palm Beach, Fla., E.F. Hutton & Co. in Palm Beach, Fla., and Dean Witter & Morgan Stanley in West Palm Beach. He was owner of West Trend Development in Wellington, Fla., and developed the Palm Beach Equestrian Country Club in Wellington.
Herb loved fishing every weekend in the Indian River with his best friend, who was like a brother and a second father to his children, for more than 60 years, George Phillips (Virginia), of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., and their families spent many family vacations together with the Phillips’ nieces/goddaughters, Lorey Mitchell of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., and Ginger McAuliffe of Palm Beach Gardens.
Along with fishing, he loved traveling the world with his dear wife Peggy and their children, hunting in West Virginia with his brothers-in-law John and H.G. Florence, and long walks on the beach with his wife. Along with his favorite house cats, he befriended many animals, hand-feeding squirrels, raccoons (and even a fox or two).
He is survived by his two children, Karen K. Sullivan (Frank) of Greenacres, Fla., and David B. Weber (Bonnie), of West Palm Beach, Fl.
Grandchildren include Kimberly R. Sullivan and Frankie J. Sullivan, both of Greenacres, Fla.; Deanna Drake and her five children of Tennessee, Angelica Weber and her three children of Tennessee, and great-grandson Christin Cole of West Palm Beach – a total of nine great-grandchildren. His grandson Darrian Weber of Tennessee preceded him in death, as did Carolann Knowles, the daughter of Bonnie Weber.
He also is survived by many nieces and nephews who spent cherished summers with “Aunt Peg and Uncle Herb” at their home on Hypoluxo Island.
