Horace Alexander Hall, age 94 of Loxahatchee passed away on Wednesday, June 2 at home surrounded by his family. He was born on March 13, 1927 in Kingston, Jamaica and was the son of the late Reuben and Inez (Walters) Hall.
He attended Swallowfield elementary, Shortwood Practicing Schools and Kingston Technical School. He later persued bookkeeping through private tuition with Mr. Ebanks, a teacher at the Technical school.
He worked with his father in his tailoring establishment for several years and got his first job with The City Printery Ltd., under the management of Mr. O.T Tairclough. He worked in that job from 1949-1956, during which time he rose from the position of junior clerk to that of Acting Secretary/Accountant.
He married Hyacinth V. Williams in December 1952, and the union produced four children: Harry, Hector, Heather and Homer. They celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary in December 2020.
He was a member of the Shortwood Boys Club which was under the patronage of Mrs. Edna Manley and he was also selected to assist with organizing youth clubs in the Shortwood, August Town and Paine Areas.
He was with Sprostons Jamaica Limited, where he hold the position of Assitant Accountant from 1956 o 1959.
He joined the senior staff of the Jamaica Omnibus Services in 1959, as Chief Clerk, and was appointed of Personnel Officer with responsibility for the welfare and discipline of a staff of over two thousand employees including clerical, mechanical and transportation workers. He remained with the Omnibus Service until September 1967, when he migrated to the United States to join his family who had preceded him, January 1967.
His employment in the United States included a short period with American Express Co., Dunhill personnel as an accountant. He attended evening courses in accounting at City College of New York. His sales career spanned over 10 years with Metropolitan Life Insurance Company. He became a million-dollar producer starting with his first year with the Met Life Co., and qualified for the Presidents Club each year up until he resigned from the company in 1979.
After leaving his sales position with the Metropolitan Life Co.,, he and his wife opened a Linen business called Linen By Cherrie in Miami. He then transitioned in Real Estate Sales with Say Realty from 1989 to 2000. From 2000 thru 2012 he was a trusted figure at Mike Munz Construction Model offices/KEM Realty in Palm Beach County.
He has been a domino enthusiast all his life and he organized a group of players who have been meeting for over 40 years. He has several trophies from the annual competition in which he participated.
He is survived by his wife, Hyacinth Hall, children; Harry Hall, Hector Hall (Ruth Hall, daughter-in-law), Heather Hall-De L'Etoile (Ron-De L'Etoile son-in-law), Homer Hall and Valerie Hall. Grandchildren; Jayson Hall, Daryl Hall, Latasha Hall, Christopher Hall, Danielle Hall, Brandon Hall Simmons, Ashley Hall, Ronson De L'Etoile and 10 Great Grandchildren.
Horace's Mother's sister (aunt) Inez Sinclair (99 Yr/o), Nieces; Sonia Sinclair-Henry, Ann Douglas, Carol Nelson, Rose Sinclair, Jillain Hall-Harper, Jacinth Hall Tracey and Pauline Williams.
