

James Thomas "Tom" Askey, 78, passed away on September 30, 2025, in West Palm Beach, Florida. Born on September 28, 1947, in Altoona, Pennsylvania, Tom spent most of is early life travelling with his family because his father was in the US Navy. They eventually settled in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where he met his future wife.
He was the beloved husband of Sandra Sullivan Askey, with whom he shared 55 years of marriage. Together, they built an eclectic but loving family. Tom is also survived by his sons, Jason and Christopher; his cherished granddaughter and frequent debate partner, Haley; his brother Larry and his niece Tammy and nephew Larry Jr.; his honorary granddaughter Cassidy along with everyone's families, also honor Tom's memory.
Tom was preceded in death by his father, James A. Askey; his mother, Margie W. Robison; and numerous aunts and uncles who were part of his early life.
Tom enjoyed time on the golf course before retirement. In later years, he found comfort in seek-a-word puzzle books and relaxing in front of the television. A lifelong animal lover, he shared his home with many pets over the years....he preferred them to most people.
The sounds of late-night TV and slamming cabinet doors will be sorely missed.
A memorial gathering will be held on October 3, 2025, from 11:00AM to 1:00PM in Lake Worth, Florida at Dorsey E. Earl Smith Funeral Home, 3041 Kirk Road, followed by a brief service at 1:00PM and burial will immediately follow in Lake Worth Memory Gardens Cemetery.
