Jon Mendiguren

It is with great sadness that the family of Jon “Papi” Mendiguren announces his passing on Friday, May 27, 2022 at the age of 94. Jon was predeceased by the love of his life, Caridad, and their son Jon "Jonito."

Papi will be lovingly remembered by his children Pedro (Sheryl), Fidel (Viviel), and Lourdes (Curt) Black. Papi will also be fondly remembered by his eleven grandchildren, Jon, Joseph, Jason, Stephanie, Christina, Jaclyn, Amanda, Keith, Justin, Kevin, Ciara, nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great granddaughter.

After leaving Cuba in 1962 in search of freedom, he settled his family in Belle Glade and reunited with the Fanjul family with whom he worked with for over fifty years. Later, he relocated his family to Palm Springs where he lived for fifty-four years. Above all else, Papi enjoyed spending time with family and his beloved Caridad "Mami". Papi successfully instilled the importance of family in everyone which will carry on for generations. He is already sorely missed, but we take comfort in all our loving memories and knowing that he is with Mami, Jonito and all his loved ones who predeceased him.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, July 9, at 10:00AM, at St. Luke's Catholic Church, Palm Springs, FL. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in memory of Jon may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
