10/10/1939 – 09/30/2021
Lottie Jean Gaffney, nee Revoir, passed peacefully at home after a lengthy battle with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and struggling with the after effects of two recent back surgeries.
Born in Hadley, Michigan, and raised in Flint, Michigan, Lottie was a survivor of the 1953 Flint-Beecher F5 tornado, which played a huge role in building her strength and resilience; traits that served her well throughout her lifetime. She excelled at several sports in school, performed as a majorette, and was crowned homecoming queen at Beecher High School.
She met the love of her life, Robert Gaffney, while still a teenager and married her handsome Marine in 1958. Together, they raised three children, the oldest with cerebral palsy, built a business, and shared all the laughter and tears that comes with those territories. They were devoted to one another throughout their shared 51 years.
When her youngest child was in high school, Lottie decided to chase her dream of becoming an educator, ultimately receiving a Master’s degree in education. She spent nearly four decades teaching at C.O. Taylor-Kirklane School in Palm Springs primarily in the areas of special education and mathematics.
Lottie was predeceased by her beloved husband and son, Robert M. Gaffney and Robert W. Gaffney, her sister, Geraldine Maddron, and two brothers, James Revoir and Milo F. Revoir. She is survived by her daughter, Jeannie (Barry) Brimacomb, and her son, Timothy (Katrina) Gaffney. She is also survived by her sister, Arlene (Aaron) Cannon, her brother, Kenneth Revoir, and her nieces, nephews, cousins, her aunt, Alice Marsh, as well as many, many wonderful friends. She will surely be missed.
Lottie has directed that no services be held for her as she wants to be remembered with joy by her friends and family. Her final request was that we all BE KIND to one another.
