Margaret is survived by her four daughters, Julie Williams (Berry), Linda McLelland (Perry), Mary Jane Licata (Patrick), and Amy DeMarois (Dennis), ten grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Gerald D., and her son, Steven Edward.
Margaret, “Bubs” as everyone knew her, was born at Good Samaritan Hospital in West Palm Beach, Florida, on December 9, 1931, to Hugh Elbridge and Marguerite Jane Lumpkin. She graduated from Lake Worth High School, and began her studies for her nursing career at Emory University. Upon completion, she worked as a surgical nurse, in both California and Florida.
Soon, Bubs married Gerry, the man of her dreams, on February 14, 1954. Her attention turned to becoming the best wife and mother ever! She was blessed with four daughters and one son. Her family and friends became her central focus, although her nursing skills were put to good use as she took care of her home and children.
Bubs was a woman of noble character. Her smile, her strength, her care and concern for others, her laughter, her listening ear, her words of encouragement, her baking and cooking, her love for nature and adventure, her joy at seeing her family and friends – these are just a few of the words that would describe her. Above all, she will be remembered as a prayer warrior; a woman who loved the Lord with all her heart, soul, mind, and strength. Jesus was her greatest hope and joy!
Visitation hours are planned for Thursday, September 23, from 6 to 8 PM, at
Dorsey-E. Earl Smith Memory Gardens Funeral Home, Lake Worth, Florida. A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 24, at 11 AM, at the same location, with a committal service to follow.
