

Marilynn Joan Painter Hatcher, 86, from Hatcher Mango Hill in Lantana Florida passed away on Saturday November 6th, 2021. Known as a kind hearted and gentle person, she will be fondly remembered by all who knew her, and missed by so many.
Marilynn was born in 1935 in South Bend, Indiana to James Vernon Painter and Lucille Teresa Millard Painter. When she was 3 her family moved to Niles, Michigan. In 1947 when Marilynn was 12 her family moved to Lantana, Florida. She graduated from Lake Worth High School in 1953 where she played saxophone in the marching band, and was also on the dive/swim team.
Marilynn married Richard (Dick) Hatcher of Lantana in 1954 and by 1960 they had 4 children: Sharon Lynn (1955), Kathleen Denise (1957), Richard Jr. (1958), and John David (1960).
Dick's career with Eastern Airlines was in Miami where the family was raised, and then in Atlanta. Marilynn worked as a public school secretary to the principal at 3 schools, and later in real estate.
After retiring in 1985 they moved back to Lantana where they built Hatcher Mango Hill, one of the few mango farms remaining in the area.
Marilynn is survived by her siblings Priscilla (Tippy) Soderstedt, Carol (Gerry) Weller, Douglas Painter, and Dennis Painter, all residing in the Lantana/Lake Worth area. Her brothers Russell Painter and Roger Painter predeceased her.
Marilynn is also survived by her daughter Kathleen of Lake Worth, her son Richard Jr. (Kelly) of CA, and a host of family and friends. Her daughter Sharon of NY and her son John of GA predeceased her.
A visitation for Marilynn will be held Wednesday, November 10, 2021 from 2:00pm to 3:00pm at Dorsey-E. Earl Smith Memory Gardens Funeral Home, 3041 Kirk Road, Lake Worth, with funeral service starting at 3pm at the funeral home. A committal service will follow at Lake Worth Memory Gardens. Flowers can be sent to the funeral home.
