Mary Ann McClain

She was born on December 2, 1942 in Kingston, New York, the beloved daughter of James A. and Mary G. Lynch.

After graduating from Boston College with a Master’s degree in English Literature she moved to West Palm Beach, Florida with Richard, her husband of 58 years. Mary Ann was a devoted wife to her husband Richard, and together they raised four daughters who then blessed them with nine grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Nothing made Mary Ann happier than spending time with her family.

Mary Ann will be remembered for her inner strength, intelligence, strong convictions, and deep love of family. She was known for her dry wit, resilience, and spontaneity. Mary Ann enjoyed traveling, reading, puzzles, shopping, and visiting new places. Whether it was a vacation, shopping or a trip to the park, she was always eager and ready to go.

Mary Ann retired from the Palm Beach County School District after a 30+ year career teaching middle and high school students. She believed in the power of education, instilling her passion for literature to countless students throughout her career.

After retiring, Mary Ann was an active member of the Palm Beach Sail & Power Squadron with her husband Richard for many years.

She is survived by her husband Richard McClain, her daughters Becky Hays, Stephanie (Doug) Mosley, Krissy (Rob) Day, and Julie (Dave) Goon, her grandchildren Wil Hays, Courtney Mosley, Lauren Ver Porter, Robby (Brianna) Hays, Colton Mosley, Danny Hays, Greg Day, David Goon, and Mikey Goon, and her great-children Logan, Natalie, Ember, and Ari.

Although Mary Ann’s physical presence may no longer grace our lives, her spirit will continue to inspire, uplift us, and live in our hearts.

A visitation will be held on December 4, 2025, from 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm at Dorsey-E. Earl Smith Memory Gardens, located at 3041 Kirk Road, Lake Worth, FL 33461.

The funeral service will follow at the same location, beginning at 2:00 pm.

A committal service is scheduled for 3:00 pm at Lake Worth Memory Gardens, also at 3041 Kirk Road, Lake Worth, FL 33461.
