Mayme Ruth Vowell-Leissing

Mayme Ruth Vowell Leissing of West Palm Beach, Florida, formerly of East Orange, New Jersey, Evansville, Indiana and Princeton, Kentucky passed away on February 13, 2011. She was proud of her family and was a loving wife, mother and homemaker. Later in life she obtained her certification as a licensed practical nurse to expand her life of service to others.

During WWII, while proudly serving her country as a "Rosie the Riveter" in an aircraft assembly plant, she met the great love of her life. Frederick J. Leissing II, a U.S. Army Staff Sergeant stationed at a nearby base while awaiting overseas assignment. They married and remained a devoted couple until his passing in 1981.

"Sister Ruth" was a decades long member of the Suncoast Church of Christ in Florida after many years membership at Echo Lake Church of Christ in Westfield, N.J. She is survived by her sons; Frederick and his wife Nancy Leissing of Orlando, Stephen Michael and his wife Natalie Leissing, 3 grandchildren; Julia Joy Leissing, Margaret Rebecca Leissing, Karen Samantha Leissing. Mayme was preceded in death by her husband Frederick J. Leissing II, and a daughter Lois Lorraine Leissing.
