Age 84 of Boynton Beach, FL passed away peacefully on March 19, 2014. He was born in Brooklyn, NY to Vincenzo and Angelina Luongo. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corp during the Korean Conflict, was a NY-NJ Port Authority policeman for over 20 years and then a proprietor/master craftsman of fine furniture and stairs before fully retiring in Florida. He was a member of the Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Lantana.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Eleanore; 4 children: daughters, Michelle Luongo of Fort Lauderdale and Maureen Luongo of Delray Beach; sons, Michael Jr. and Matthew both of Sussex, NJ; 3 grandchildren: Nina, Michael III and Tiana; great granddaughter, Kayleigh; 3 sisters: Nina, Cam and Nettie; brother, Vincent.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00am on Friday, March 28th at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1000 W. Lantana Road, Lantana, FL 33462. Inurnment will follow at 1:00pm at South Florida National Cemetery, 6501 State Road 7, Lake Worth, FL 33449. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are requested be made to: Forgotten Soldiers Outreach, 3550 23rd Ave So., Suite 7, Lake Worth, FL 33461.
