The biggest heart imaginable. Great shoulders to cry on. The face of an angel. A beautiful singing voice for a little extra magic. Limitless amounts of love and laughter. And a talent for Italian cooking that would make your mouth water. All packed into a five-foot frame.
Born in Naples, Italy, to Maria (Matricaria) and Carmine Finizio, Nunzia was the third of seven children in a tight-knit, loving family. Living through WW2 as a little girl cemented the importance of sticking together and taking care of each other no matter what.
When her Mom was sick in the hospital, young Nunzia visited every single day. Little did she realize, her Mom’s roommate, Concettina, was taking notice of her amazing sweetness and her caring disposition.
Years later, when Nunzia was 26, Concettina (still close to the family) approached her and said, “I have a nephew, Louis, in America who’s a widower with four children. I think you would like each other.” She was right. (In fact, “Lou and Nu” became a love story that lasted over a half-century.)
Nunzia married Louis Salvatore Corsini in 1961, moved to Brooklyn, NY, and became the mother of his four kids, ages 3 to 10. In 1964, they welcomed number five. And Nunzia loved every one of them the same.
Along the way, she studied hard to become a U.S. citizen. She Americanized her name to Nancy. But she always instilled traditional Italian-Catholic values in her kids.
The Corsini clan moved to Hazlet, NJ, in 1966—and once the kids were all in school, Nancy put her sewing talents to use—first taking in alterations, then making dresses and bathing suits. Eventually, she moved into quality-assurance at Lanvin Charles of the Ritz. She was always the best at what she did.
After moving to Middletown, NJ, for a short time, “Lou and Nu” retired to Florida in 1984. Nobody minded traveling to visit them for the holidays. It was always the most fun place to be. Lou worked the room with songs and jokes, while Nancy wowed from the kitchen. Many an invited friend would leave saying, “Can I please be a Corsini?”
When her beloved Lou became ill, Nancy was his caregiver, 24/7, until the day he passed away. And she never stopped missing him or loving him for a single day.
In 2017, Nancy moved in with her youngest son, Anthony, and his wife, Liz, who took care of her with great love and affection until her very last moment on earth.
Waiting to welcome Nancy to Heaven are her beloved husband Lou and her daughter Carol Corsini Ervin, who passed away 5 months ago. Nancy will also be reunited with her loving parents, her brothers Domenico and Antonio, and her sister Rita.
Nancy sadly leaves her children, Patricia (and husband, Victor) Caroli, Louis (and wife, Nancy), William (and wife, Shay), and Anthony (and wife, Liz); her son-in-law, Jeffrey Ervin; her grandchildren, Daniel, Bryan, James, Kevin, Isabella, Brielle, Carly, and Jeffrey; and great grandchildren, Dylan and Myles. She will also be missed by her brother Vincenzo (and wife, Antonietta), her sisters Anna and Rosaria; and her “close-as-a-sister,” Rose Corsini Frankel; plus many loving nieces, nephews, and friends.
No one who knew Nancy will ever forget her smiling face. So many lives are brighter because she was here.
A visitation for Nancy will be held Sunday, December 17, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Dorsey-E. Earl Smith Memory Gardens Funeral Home, 3041 Kirk Road, Lake Worth, FL. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, December 18, 2023 at 10:00 AM at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 6090 Hypoluxo Rd, Lake Worth Beach, FL. A committal service will follow at Our Lady Queen of Peace Cemetery, 10941 Southern Blvd, Royal Palm Beach, FL.
