Ortenzio "Sonny" Albanese

Ortenzio V. Albanese, affectionately known as Sonny, passed away on January 15, 2026, at the age of 87. Born on September 14, 1938, Sonny was first born to a large family in Palisades Park, NJ. He later started and raised a family in Edgewater and Fort Lee, NJ, before retiring and spending the last half of his life in Lake Worth, Florida.

Sonny was a beloved, devoted, hard-working, honest, humorous, inspirational, loyal, and wise individual. At an early age, he worked for the family sanitation company and later took over the family business. His career was marked by dedication and a strong work ethic.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years, Patricia; his daughter Theresa and her spouse Christopher; his son Stephen and wife Kim; and his cherished grandchildren, Alissa, Daniella, and Stephen Jr. He was predeceased by his beloved son, Andrew. Sonny's family was the center of his world, and his grandchildren were the "light of his life."

Sonny loved the water and the "Jersey Shore," traveling with his family, and exploring Italy and the Caribbean with his wife. He was an avid follower of the stock market and enjoyed spending time with his family, particularly his grandkids. He also had a passion for his wife's Italian meals and enjoyed neighborhood parties and gatherings.

In the community, Sonny was known for his big-hearted nature. He volunteered at The Elks Club, serving dinner, served on the Homeowners Association Board, and coached Little League. His involvement in the community left a lasting impact on those around him.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at Dorsey-E. Earl Smith Funeral Home, located at 3041 Kirk Road, Lake Worth, FL 33461, on WedJanuary 21, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A Funeral Mass will be held on January 22, 2026, at 11:00 am at St. Matthew Catholic Church, located at 6090 Hypoluxo Rd, Lake Worth Beach, FL 33463.

Sonny's legacy of love, laughter, and dedication will be cherished and remembered by all who knew him.
