Otis S. Brown Jr.

He is survived by his devoted wife, of 62 years, Donna Miller Brown. A loving father to their six children. Otis S. Brown, III (Jane Fraser) of Otisfield, ME, Kyle Pauline James (Kenneth) of Concord, MA, Dale Noel Domings (Edward) of Lexington, MA, Mark Edward Brown (Lisa Hall) of Harvard, MA, Kerry Lynn Togneri (Francis) of Turners Falls, MA, and Lee Matthew Brown (Susan Skerry) of Bedford MA. Proud Papa to their 16 grandchildren, Kristin Brown , Dylan James (Robin), Brandy Trombly (Sam), Crystal D'Abbraccio (Sean), Anson James (Marie), Michael Domings (Nicole), Nicholas Domings (Jillian), Wyatt Brown (Kelly), Lacey Brown, Waylon Brown (Sadie), Ryan Togneri, Colby Togneri, Devin Togneri, Matthew Brown, Samantha Brown, Jazmine Brown and a wonderful new generation of "Great" grands, Savanna and Isabelle James, Skyler and Kaden D'Abbraccio, Ryan Boyd, Cameron Brown, Sage Domings and Nella James. Brother of Capt. James E. Brown, Ret. (Kiyoko) of No. Las Vegas, NV, Lawrence Brown (Janet) of Wilton, NH, Robert Brown (Jeanie) of Grassy Creek, NC. Preceded by brother Kenneth and sister Karen.

Otis attended evening classes at Northeastern University while traveling all of New England as a Special Agent for the New Hampshire Fire and Casualty Insurance Co. of Manchester, New Hampshire. In 1953, and with a growing family, he left the company to establish his own independent insurance agency in Lexington, MA. Otis was a strong and committed member of his community. He was elected a Town Meeting Member in 1954 where he served several terms. Over the years he served multiple terms on the Permanent Building Committee as well as member and chairman of both the School Committee and Board of Selectmen.

Otis and his family were active members of the Hancock Church. He was a founding member and president of the Gridiron Club, The Lexington Historical Society and member and past president of the Lexington Lions Club and the Lexington Golf Club. He became a partner in Lexington Toyota and a respected developer of the Worthen Road Office Complex and Turnbury Hill Condominium development in addition to several other commercial properties in Lexington and Concord.

Otis and Donna moved to Florida as "snow birds" in the 1970's where he was the contractor for four homes they built before settling in Atlantis. An active member of the Atlantis Golf Club he served two terms as president. He enjoyed the theatre and supported the programs at the Kravis Center from it's beginning. He was always interested in serving others. Otis became a supporter with the Centurions and the Hab-a-Hearts, raising funds for the Palm Beach Habilitation Center. Also close to his heart is his devotion to the work of the Jimmy Fund in Boston where he contributed to The Pan-Mass Challenge "Savanna Smiles Team". This was in honor of his granddaughter and son-in-law who are cancer survivors. Otis, Donna and non-bike riders are the cheerleaders in Provincetown on the final day to greet the team. When daughter Kerry started Ice Stars for Wounded Warriors fundraising program in Western Mass for the Wounded Warrior Project Otis wanted to become a part. Not having been in the military, his involvement was his way of showing appreciation to family and friends that have served our country in too many of the wars of our generations.

Otis would be quick to say he had a "Wonderful Life". He was devoted to his family and their needs. He was honest and a loyal friend who encouraged by example. Otis proved that we all have something to give. Time is your most important gift and there is never enough, so make it count. He has left us dearly loved and with renewed courage to make a difference.

The Brown family will receive their friends from 4 PM until 8 PM on Saturday, March 2nd at Douglass Funeral Home, 51 Worthen Road, Lexington, MA with a memorial service and Masonic service to take place between those hours.
