Patricia Mary Hughes, 74, passed away on June 11, 2026. Born on December 6, 1951, in Manhattan, Patricia was raised with the steady influence of a father who served as a New York policeman. She attended Sacred Heart High School in New York and later graduated from Plantation High School in 1969. She was a resident of Lake Worth, Florida.
Patricia was a beloved presence in the lives of those who knew her—marked by a gentle spirit, a kind heart, and a patience that quietly steadied her family through the years. She met life’s demands with a hard-working devotion and a determination that never sought attention, yet was always felt. Her resilience was not a slogan but a lived truth, carried day after day with dignity.
She is survived by her husband, Charlie Hughes; her sons, Michael E Hughes and Daniel F Hughes; and her daughter from her first marriage, Jennifer Reynolds. Patricia’s love for her family showed itself in the countless ways she cared—always doing and helping when the boys were young, keeping a truly clean home, and making everyday life feel tended and secure.
Patricia found joy in the simple, faithful rhythms of home. She loved gardening in the backyard, taking her dog Harper for walks, and she was known as a truly good cook. Holidays held a special place in her heart, especially Christmas and Thanksgiving, when the children were there—or on their way. She was also an avid reader, often checking out 10 books at a time and finishing them within a week or two, a quiet testament to her steady curiosity and her love of learning.
Her generosity extended beyond her own household. Patricia helped two children learn to read—and, more than that, helped them learn to love reading—offering her time with the same patience and kindness that defined her life.
The family wishes to express sincere gratitude to Trust Bridge, who came along when options were running out near the end, and to the nurses and aides who cared for Patricia with compassion and dedication.
Patricia lived with enduring pain for much of her life, yet faced it with remarkable strength. She was one tough women—deeply loved, widely admired, and never forgotten.
