

Randall Mark Ames, 56, a resident of Greenacres, FL, went home to be with his Lord on Thursday, September 18, 2014 after a long battle with cancer. A devoted husband, son, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and cherished friend; Randy was born on March 10, 1958 in Waterville, Maine to his parents Horace & Ruth Ames of Worcester, MA and Greenacres FL. He graduated in 1976 from Burncoat High School in Worcester, MA, studied horticulture and music, then drove tractor trailer truck for 25+ years, locally and over-the-road. Randy loved singing and writing music, playing harmonica, guitar, keyboard, piano and flute for any opportunity, especially to His Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Randy was a faithful, active member of West Pines Baptist Church in Greenacres and he was very active in his local recovery group, recently celebrating 28 years, an example in his sobriety. Randy cherished relationships and loved to make people laugh with his quick wit and comical demeanor.
Randy is survived by his parents, Horace & Ruth Ames, his wife, Dianna Lee Ames of Greenacres, FL, his son Randall M. Ames, Jr. of Clinton, MA; his step-daughter, Lindsay Marie Ames of Shrewsbury, MA, his son and daughter-in-law, Justin & Mary Laurence of St. Petersburg, FL; his step-daughter, Michelle Joanne Ladd of Knoxville, TN; his brother Horace Ames, Jr.; brother & sister-in-law Michael & Pamela Ames of Shrewsbury, MA; brother & sister-in-law Stephen & Kim Ames, of West Boylston, MA. Randy also leaves four dearly loved nieces Emily & Abby Ames and Brooke & Erin Ames as well as two adored grandchildren, Brandon Gregory & Sydney Rose Laurence and several special aunts, uncles, cousins and many close friends from church and from his recovery group.
