Robert Curtis Anderson, lovingly known as “Bob” or “Bobby,” and affectionately called “Pop” or “Poppie” by his children and grandchildren, passed away peacefully at home on January 8, 2026, at the age of 92.
Bob was born on September 9, 1933, at home in Poplar Grove, Maryland, to George and Mae Anderson. He grew up in Bel Air, Maryland, as the youngest of six children. From an early age, Bob was known for his playful spirit — he loved telling jokes, pulling pranks, and bringing laughter wherever he went.
He graduated from Bel Air High School and, just six weeks after marrying his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Paula Jane Anderson (Armstrong), Bob was drafted into the United States Army to serve his country in Korea during the Korean Conflict.
Following his honorable discharge from military service, Bob worked in various roles to support his family. He was a gas station owner in Ohio before moving his family to Florida in 1970, to avoid the harsh winters and snow. He then spent the next 45+ years dedicated to carpentry, specializing in building stairs for Whiteside Construction. A legacy he has passed down to his son and grandson who are also in construction. His craftsmanship can still be seen today in many high-rise buildings throughout Palm Beach, Dade, and Broward Counties — including structures over 40 stories tall — a legacy he was deeply proud of.
Bob was also an active and respected member of the Grand Lodge of the Free & Accepted Masons of Ohio, where he earned the distinction of Master Mason.
Bob shared 61 devoted years of marriage with his beloved wife, Paula, before her passing. Their love was the foundation of a strong and close-knit family. He is survived by his children: Timothy Anderson (Janet), Rebecca Spreckelmeier, and Sarah Fasig (Thomas). He was a proud grandfather to seven grandchildren: Renee (Anderson) Miller (Jeff), Leslie (Anderson) Jay (Brian), Ryan Anderson, Sarah (Spreckelmeier) Challenger (Austin), Nicholas Spreckelmeier, Alexandra Fasig, and Alaina (Fasig) Sullivan (Brice), and a cherished great-grandfather to six great-grandchildren: Aubrey and Madilyn Miller, Tegan Jay, Wesley, Asher, and Paige Challenger.
Bob had a lifelong love of animals and leaves behind his beloved dog, Suzzie.
In his personal life, Bob found joy in simple pleasures — bass fishing on Lake Okeechobee, traveling across the United States with his family, reading western books and the daily newspaper. He enjoyed fixing up old Volkswagen Beetles, tinkering with tools, visiting flea markets and auctions, collecting coins, and watching Hee Haw on television.
Bob lived by strong values: be true to your word, family comes first, don’t go to bed angry, and always be honest. In his later years, he demonstrated those values through his devoted care of his wife during her battle with Parkinson’s disease, leaving behind a powerful example of love, commitment, and selflessness.
Those who knew Bob will remember his warm smile, gentle spirit, lighthearted humor, and unwavering devotion to his family and faith. His legacy lives on through the generations he guided by example.
Visitation will be held on January 17, 2026, at Dorsey – E. Earl Smith Funeral Home, 3041 Kirk Road, Lake Worth, Florida, beginning at 9:30 a.m., followed by a service at 10:00 a.m. Burial will take place at 11:00 a.m., reception immediately following at the Lakeside Green Clubhouse, 4173 Willow Pond Road, West Palm Beach, FL 33417.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to Furry Friends Humane, 100 Capital Street, Jupiter, FL 33458 or at https://ffhumane.org/ Flowers are also welcome.
