MOM THE LAST 12 MONTHS HAVE BEEN SO DIFFICULT FOR ME. I CANT BELIEVE THAT TODAY IS 1 YEAR SINCE YOU LEFT ME. THERE ISN'T A SECOND DURING THE DAY THAT YOU AREN'T MISSED OR THOUGHT OF. I STILL LOOK FOR YOU AND EXPECT TO HEAR AND SEE YOU. YOU WERE MY BEST FRIEND. I DEFINITELY KNOW WHERE YOU ARE. WITH THE HELP OF THE LORD YOU HAVE GIVEN ME MANY SIGNS THAT YOU ARE STILL WITH ME INCLUDING VISITING ME IN DREAMS ALONG WITH DAD AND OTHER FAMILY MEMBERS AND I HOPE YOU CONTINUE PERIODICALLY AS IT LEAVES ME WITH SUCH A FEELING OF PEACE. I KNOW YOU ARE NO LONGER WORRYING ABOUT DIALYSIS, DOCTORS' AND HOSPITAL VISITS WHICH I KNOW YOU DREADED BUT YOU ENDURED BECAUSE YOU DIDNT WANT ME TO BE ALONE. AND THROUGH IT ALL YOU NEVER COMPLAINED. YOU ONLY SHOWED YOUR STRENGTH AND DETERMINATION TO GET THROUGH IT AND TO PROVE THE DOCTORS WRONG WHICH YOU DID MANY TIMES. IN FACT IF YOU REMEMBER DR MERIE USED TO CALL US THE DYNAMIC DUO BECAUSE WE SUCH A GOOD TEAM. THIS AND YOUR POSITIVE ATTITUDE EVEN WHEN THINGS LOOKED BLEEK IS PART OF THE LEGACY YOU LEFT ME. WHEN I LOSE MY TEMPER DRIVING I CAN STILL HEAR YOU SAY "STEVIE LET IT GO, WHY DO YOU LET IT BOTHER YOU". I LOVED IT WHEN AFTER FINISHING YOUR DINNER YOU WOULD TURN SMILE AND LIFT THE PLATE TO SHOW ME YOU FINISHED AS YOU KNEW IT PLEASED ME. THEN IT WAS THOSE TIMES YOU WOULD GET UP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT AND TURN ON TURNER CLASSIC MOVIES AND WE WOULD WATCH THE MOVIES TOGETHER. ONE OF OUR FAVORITES WAS "LAURA" IF YOU REMEMBER. AT OTHER TIMES WHEN WE WERE DRIVING YOU WOULD SHOW ME YOUR RIGHT PALM AND WE WOULD COMPARE IT TO MINE (THE PINK COLOR THAT IS) AS WE KNEW THE PINKER THE COLOR THE STRONGER YOUR BLOOD WAS AND YOU WOULD BE FEELING GOOD. THEN WHO CAN FORGET THE MANY SHOPPING SPREES' TO THE THRIFT STORES, HOMEGOODS AND OF COURSE YOUR FAVORITE BURLINGTON. NOT TO MENTION WEEKLY HAIR APPOINTMENTS AND GOING OUT TO LUNCH.
YOU ALWAYS SAID I WAS YOUR ROCK OF SUPPORT BUT YOU WERE ALSO MINE. BUT THE ONE THING THAT IS FOREVER ETCHED IN MY MIND IS THAT SMILE, THAT BEAUTIFUL SMILE SO FILLED WITH UNCONDITIONAL LOVE AND THOSE EYES WHICH WERE FULL OF ENCOURAGEMENT AND UNDERSTANDING.  I TRIED TO FULLFILL EVERYONE OF YOUR WISHES RIGHT TO THE END MOM. THERE WAS A TIME WHERE THE INFECTION WAS BEGINNING TO RESPOND TO THE ANTIBIOTICS BUT THAN THINGS TURNED AROUND AND IT OVERRAN YOUR BODY. IT WAS SO HARD TO SEE YOU ON THAT RESPIRATOR TRYING TO FIGHT IT ALL. I PRAYED AND ASKED THE LORD TO DO WHAT HE THOUGHT BEST EITHER HEAL YOU AS HE HAD DONE SO MANY TIMES BEFORE OR TAKE YOU BUT NOT LET YOU SUFFER. OF COURSE WE KNOW WHAT HE DECIDED AND YOU HAVE NO MORE DISCOMFORT JUST HAPPINESS. AND IN THE COMPANY OF DAD WHICH I KNOW YOU MISSED TERRIBLY,ALONG WITH YOUR PARENTS AND BROTHERS AND OTHER FAMILY MEMBERS. YOU HAD ALWAYS TOLD ME THAT WHEN THE TIME CAME, IF THERE WAS NO POSITIVE PROGNOSIS NOT TO LEAVE YOU LINGER ON LIFE SUPPORT. ON THAT AFTERNOON A YEAR AGO TODAY I EXPLAINED EVERYTHING TO YOU  ALONG WITH TELLING YOU IT WAS ALRIGHT TO LET GO AND I WOULD TAKE CARE OF EVERYTHING,  AND I AM PRETTY SURE YOU HEARD ME, I HAD YOU TAKEN OFF OF LIFE SUPPORT AT 425PM. YOU WENT PEACEFULLY. I STAYED AND HELD YOU FOR AWHILE. THIS WAS AND PROBABLY IS THE MOST DIFFICULT THING I WILL HAVE EVER DONE IN MY LIFE. DR. GUNTHER AND AUNT TRUDY STAYED WITH ME.
COUSIN ANGIE AND THE RACANA SIDE OF THE FAMILY HAVE BEEN AND CONTINUE TO BE CARING AND SUPPORTIVE. MOM YOU LEFT ME WITH SO MANY GOOD MEMORIES AND ATTRIBUTES WHICH WILL BE AN ASSET TO ME  FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE. SOMETIME IN THE FUTURE WE WILL ALL BE TOGETHER AGAIN. SO PERIODICALLY LOOK AROUND FOR ME. I LOVE YOU MOM, I MISS YOU

WITHOUT YOU, AND DAD'S HELP IN RAISING HIM IN PA, I DO NOT KNOW WHAT I WOULD HAVE DONE.YOU 2 WHERE AT EVERY ONE OF HIS HOCKEY, AND BASEBALL PRACTICIES, & GAMES THAT I COACHED, AND NEVER MISSED MY BASEBALL GAMES ON SUNDAYS, AFTER YOU HAD WENT TO CHURCH. YOU SUPPORTED US IN EVERYTHING WE DID. I WATCHED YOUR HEALTH DEMINISH YEAR AFTER YEAR, AND NEVER HEARD YOU COMPLAIN ABOUT ONE THING AT ALL. YOUR LOVE AND CARING WAYS FOR YOUR CHILDREN, YOUR GRANDSON,& OUR ENTIRE FAMILY COULD NOT BE MATCHED.I NEVER HEARD A NEGATIVE THING OUT OF YOUR MOUTH ABOUT ANYTHING, OR ANYBODY. YOU CONTINUE TO GIVE US STRENGTH EVERYDAY, AND WE WILL MISS YOU ALWAYS. Dear Steve and Jerry,
Your mother was always a loving and thoughtful sister to me, patient and caring. When I think of Fifi, I want to celebrate her life and all the fond memories we shared.
Fifi was my only sister and my closest friend. Even though she was older than me , we spent lots of time together as children and as adults. Not only did we share a bedroom, we shared a bed as children. Many disagreements took place there! They were some of our wonderful memories.
I admired many things about my sister, one being her beautiful long red hair. We shared alot and I was honored to wear her wedding gown on my wedding day.
There is not a day that goes by that I don't think of her. Fifi will always be remembered for her positive attitude, compassion and her love for life!
I am so grateful and blessed to know Fifi is with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I look foward to seeing her again.

Dear Steve and Jerry,
With wonderful memories I'll write a few words about your mom and my Aunt Sara. She was a lovely woman and so easy to get along with. She enjoyed making everyone around her happy. She had such a positive attitude about life!
As a child I saw my aunt alot. Uncle Gus, Aunt Sara, Steve and Jerry lived around the corner. My mom Katherine and her sister FiFi were very close. We had lots of family gatherings and dinner together. Aunt Sara made the best eggplant parmesan ever!!
A common interest we shared was a love for figurines. When I was a small child I would admire the small sculptured expressions of art that sat in her curio. As an adult she would admire mine. Also, I inherited her fondness for great hair styles!
When I was older our family moved away. But, when we saw eachother it was if there was no distance between us. Then we were happy and blessed to live just a few hours away!
Aunt Sara was so positive and strong. One would never know she endured many years of illness. She was always encouraging and hopeful. Her attitude was an inspiration to the whole family! I will miss her.
Steve, Jerry and Jerry Jr. I hope you find comfort knowing she is in the loving arms of Jesus surrounded by family who preceded her.
There are places in our hearts and memories that will forever remember your loving mother Sara.

I would always run into your MOM when ever I visited Uncle Patsy & Aunt Anna. My foundest memories of Aunt Fee Fee was when I was a freshman at Flushing HS. She worked the school cafeteria. Whenever I ate a hot lunch, I would yell out "Hi Aunt Fee Fee." She would always lean over the counter and give me a kiss.
That went on for the entire year!

I happened to call your Mom in East Strouseberg the day they were leaving for Florida. The real estate agent answered the phone (luckily for me) and got in touch with your Mom. She called me right back and gave me all the GreenAcre info.

You were a great son to your Mother. She is in my prayers.

Dear Steve and Gerry:

I will always remember my very kind and generous Sister-In-Law Sara who in so many ways showed not only love but also concern.  I will always be very grateful to the Lord for her life.  I thank God for her extending herself in so many ways when I relocated to the East Coast and without her help and encouragement it would have been much more difficult. I will be forever thankful and treasure her memory for her many beautiful ways.

I had the privilege of taking care of Mrs Izzo ( Serafina) and also getting to know her remarkable son Steve. Each visit always ended with so where are we going for lunch. She was a a fighter and always saw the glass half full. She enjoyed life and looked forward to whatever came next. She will be missed. I would be remiss if I did not mention the devotion and love that was so evident between her and her son Steve. He cared deeply for both of his parents and was by their side every step of the way. My sympathies to Steve and his family.

So very sad to hear of Aunt Sara's passing. Her beautiful smile and hearty laugh will always be remembered. Down in my Grandparent's cellar were some of the best times. These memories will stay with me forever. My sympathies to you, Steve and Gerry.

Dear cousins Stevie and Gerry, my deepest sympathy to the passing of your mom.  These last few years have been mingled due to sorrow, not only has Aunt Sara been sick, you both lost your father.  Uncle Gus and Aunt Sara have played a big role in my life.  We are family and I have great memories that will be cherished threw out my life. I share these moments with my children today.  Although I miss Uncle Gus as he was very giving and loving, I would like to say something about Aunt Sara.  Aunt Sara had long red hair...she was beautiful, loving, and caring.  She treated me no different then her sons.  We are a tight knit family and held together with the strength of our other family members...due to Gods love for all.  Stevie your relationship with your mom was very special.  I know how important she was in your life.  Your the stone that held up the pillar.  You took such good care of your mother and I hope this brings you some comfort.  We all have good loving memories of Aunt Sara and now she is in heaven the Lord.  I will miss you Godmother. Your Mom, my Aunt Sara was an amazing woman!  I loved her so!  She was so full of life and loved her family so much!  Although she struggled with so many health issues for years, she never complained and always had a positive outlook no matter how much pain she suffered in her physical body.  I will miss Aunt Sara!   But never forget the blessed hope we have in Jesus that one day soon we will be reunited with our loved ones who were Born Again and went on to be with Him.  We will enjoy eternity together where there will be no more crying, no more pain, no more suffering only JOY!  

Steve, I pray that God give you rest now and peace in your soul.  You have been such a beautiful testimony of a sons incredible love for his mother.

As Steve's friend it has been an honor for me to have enjoyed "Mom's" company over the years. I have so many fond memories of being with my great Aunt and Uncle during my life in NY. My Aunt Sara was a sweet woman and I will be sure to remember her often. A wonderful picture dons my kitchen of a Thanksgiving scene at my Mama and Papa's house in Queens.  Aunt Sara is in it along with my Mom as a small child. Uncle Gus is the one who took the picture.
