He was born and raised in Clairton, PA. After high school, he enlisted into the U.S Navy. Following his time in the Navy, he joined the Washington DC Police Department, where he served for several years. He then relocated to Palm Beach Florida where he served as a police officer with the Town of Palm Beach Police Department. He retired as a Detective Sergeant in 1992 after 24 years of service. He later went on to work in security for the Port of Palm Beach for several more years. Thus, continuing his lifelong commitment to protecting his community.
Outside of work, Bill enjoyed the simple pleasures in life — cheering on his favorite sports teams, trying his luck at the slot machines, volunteering his time at St. Luke's Catholic Church and traveling to new places with the people he loved.
Bill is survived by his beloved wife, Rose-Marie of 57 years; his son, Dan Cypher and wife Tina; his daughters, Renee Cypher and Andrea Hindman and husband George; and his five grandchildren, Pauline, Madeleine, Danny, Harrison, and Logan, who brought him great joy and pride.
Bill will be remembered for his years of dedicated service, his love of family, and the joy he found in life's everyday moments. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
In lieu of flowers the family would greatly appreciate a contribution to the Miracle League of the Palm Beaches. Where he watched his granddaughter, Madeleine, play special needs baseball for many years.
