Barbara Nell Hile

Barbara Nell Hile passed away peacefully on November 28, 2016 in Williams, California. She was born in Rising Star, Texas on May 14, 1936. She spent her childhood on a farm in Texas until 1953 when her family moved to Ukiah where she graduated from Ukiah Union High School in 1954. In 1955, she married Lawrence Hile. Along with her husband, she moved to Oakland until 1970, when they moved to Lakeport, her husband's childhood hometown. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Hile, her father, R. D. Scarlett, her mother, Jessie Carter, her step-father, Henry L. Carter, her brother Henry R. Carter, her son, David Hile, and her daughter, Brenda Griggs. She is survived by her son, Edward (Lily) Hile of Trenton, Florida; grandchildren Martine (Tubbs) Nichols of Muldrow, Oklahoma, Edward Hile II of Lake Wales, Florida, Joy (David) Hubbard of Muldrow, Oklahoma, Jennifer Griggs of Modesto, California, and Melinda Griggs of Citrus Heights, California as well as several great-grandchildren.

There will be a celebration of life ceremony held on December 17, 2016 at 1:00 pm at Jones Mortuary with a catered reception after the ceremony.
