Richard (Raul) used to be my Kona beach buddy back in the 1990s. He had a car and I didn't. He would often be my ride to the beach and home. We enjoyed lots of laughs, too much sun, and swimming with the turtles. 

I believe Richard moved off Island and I eventually moved away as well. Haven't even thought about him in years. Today for some reason he  is a very strong presence  in my mind.  

After checking online I see Richard has passed quite a while ago.  I am happy to have known him, and wouldn't have missed his sandy giggles and seaside contemplations for anything.

Sounds like it was very special Hawaiian farwell to Richard.
Glad to hear there was a good gathering of energies.
I didn't know there was/is a wolf connection.
 
 The people that I was house sitting for have a wolf mix.
She was "on the prowl" the night of the 11th.
In...out...front door....back door...hanging out by the garage door...pacing....
Even my friend, who stopped by to visit that night, noticed her restlessness.
He got her to howl with him...no problem......
When I finally went to bed, she kept coming in and checking on me by sticking her big nose in my face.
(My, what big teeth you have Miss Sadie!)
She finally settled down to sleep at the beginning of the long hall that goes back to the bedrooms.
This was odd because she, being the princess she is, has her own sofa she usually sleeps on.
Go figure...very special magic....

To the Fiddler Family: May the God of comfort and tender mercies continue to comfort your family and friends, and may you find comfort in the words found in the Holy Scriptures: "And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away."  Please accept my sincere condolences during this time of your loss.

We held our ceremony in memory of Roolz down at the Puuhonua O Honaunau beach park.  Tears and laughter abounded as stories were told and our mutual friendship brought us all closer together.  As we were in our circle it began to rain just hard enough to be a blessing.  About 30 people and three dogs attended ... one that was brought by a woman who did not know Rools but was a friend of a friend which seemed a bit odd till I found out that her dog was part wolf ... then it made sense.  At sunset we walked out to the oceans edge and I tossed a maile lei into the waters ... and a number of us broke out into a spontaneous (totally unplanned) howling like wolves in heat under a full moon.    A great catharsis and the perfect way to say goodbye.
