Shirley Alice Stockwell

Shirley Alice Stockwell, 73, of Bayard, died Friday, February 22, 2008 at Chimney Rock Villa in Bayard after many years battling multiple sclerosis. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 29, 2008 at the Faith United Church of Christ in Bayard with Reverend Alice Shriver officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Bayard Cemetery. Cremation was held at Sunset Memorial Park in Scottsbluff.

Shirley was born April 17, 1934 in Batesland, SD to Henry and Catherine (Michel) Lind. She received her early education in Bayard, graduating from Bayard High School and attending Kearney State College for two years. She married James D. Stockwell November 28, 1952 in Guernsey, WY.

She was a member of the Episcopal Church and PEO.

Survivors include her sons: Bradley (Susan) Stockwell, Bellevue, NE and Scott (Gail) Stockwell, Ness City, KS; daughter: Susan Asay, Minatare, NE; sister: Delores (Gilbert) Wilson, Sundance, WY; brother: James (Pat) Lind, Bayard, NE; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, a brother, John Robert Lind and a grandson, Jason Asay.
