Benjamin Jose Galvin was born on July 30, 1929, in Atwood, Colorado. He became a hard worker at a very early age. First harvesting beets on a beet farm, then entering the Army at only 17, serving a total of 20 years. After his time in the military, he worked in a machine shop, where he retired from all his hard work at the age of 83.
Benjamin met Rebecca, they fell in love, and married. They were together 54 years, until Rebecca passed away in August of 2022. They enjoyed a beautiful family together. Benjamin enjoyed fishing, playing cards, and watching old westerns. He also loved to draw and was quite talented.
Through the years Benjamin was quiet, but that quietness offered his family gentle compassion. He was a kindhearted soul that would always greet you with a wave and a smile. Through the years he and his wife helped shape the lives of many children and grandchildren. Benjamin will be missed by all those who called him Dad and Grandpo.
Benjamin is preceded in death by his wife, Rebecca; stepchildren, Trevino and Rosie. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Tony and Janelle; as well as stepchildren, Diane, Lee, Rita and over 40 grandchildren.
A graveside service for Benjamin will be held Thursday, June 22, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM at Ft. Logan National Cemetery, 4400 W. Kenyon Ave., Denver, CO 80236. Those wishing to attend should meet at Staging Area A beginning at 10:45 AM.
