Brian was born in Denver, Colorado on November, 18,1959. He was predeceased by his father Charles Stanley, his sister Barbara Stanley Haller, and his nephew Jesse Kuykendall. Brian leaves behind his Mother Lona Stanley, his brother Bob Stanley, his sister Sharon Stanley, and his nieces and nephews Clint, Adrian, Michael, Tara, Kaitlin, and Erin.
He came into the world during a German measles outbreak that swept through the country the year he was born. Most school age children brought it home to their families. Although it was only a mild illness, it was particularly dangerous to women in the early stages of pregnancy, causing the fetus to have severe birth defects. It came to be known as gestational Rubella Syndrome for which there was no vaccine for another 8 years. Thus, Brian was born deaf, almost blind, and with multiple physical defects.
With the help of his parents, he became a happy, well socialized person who was loved by many. He attended many schools including Perkins School for the Deaf Blind in Boston and graduated H.S. from the Colorado Springs School for the Deaf Blind.
Most recently and for many years, he participated in a program for the developmentally disabled called Spectrum, where the staff were his “other” family. He made many friends there and loved to go. In fact, he attended the day before he entered the hospital 5 days before he passed.
Brian was also a very talented artist. With his photographic memory and savant capabilities, he could walk through a large multi-story building with several wings and draw a perfect architectural rendering of it when he got home.
Brian was never a burden to his family because of his kind and loving personality. He will be missed by all who knew him.
