Bridget Jones passed away at the age of 50 on February 23, 2019 in Denver, Colorado after a three-year struggle with Colon Cancer. She was born on September 12, 1968 in Denver, the youngest of 6 children. The family moved to Jackson, Michigan when she was a child and after high school graduation she moved back to Colorado to continue her education at Colorado State University. After completing her undergrad at CSU, she obtained her master’s degree in educational leadership at the University of Northern Colorado. Bridget Jones worked in Jeffco School District or over 28 years, teaching English at O'Connell Middle School then working as an assistant principal and principal at Bell Middle School, then assistant principal at Jeffco Virtual Academy.
She enjoyed spending her free time with her husband and three teenagers. She also loved the outdoors (especially her garden and the beach!) and traveling with her family. She was a very warm and welcoming person, always greeting you with a giant smile. Through her tough battle with cancer she was always positive and reassuring. She was happy, caring, fun-loving, and “everyone’s best friend.”
She is loved by many including her husband Darrell Jones, their three kids, Edie, Danny, and Molly Jones. Bridget was preceded by her father Bill Golden, brother Steve Golden, and sister Therese Thomas. She is survived by her mother Edie Golden, brothers, Mike (Missy) Golden, Kevin (Carrie) Golden, and Kelly (Karen) Golden, as well as sister-in-law Debbie Golden and brother-in-law David Thomas. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Liz Sharlow, Jessie Thomas, Erin Brown, Joe Golden, Amy Golden, Meghan Golden, Will Golden, John Golden, Hannah Golden, Nick Golden, Chris Golden, and Andy Golden. Even though Bridget had a lot of family they all remained very close. Aside from Bridget’s immediate family she had an extended family including the Harpoles and the Andersons and on her husband’s side she was loved by his mother Elizabeth Jones, his brother Jerry Jones, and the rest of the Jones bunch. Bridget lived her life to the fullest and made sure every day she did something to remember. Bridget will be remembered as a wonderful daughter, sister, wife, mother and great friend.
The funeral will be held this Friday, March 1, 2019 at 1:00 pm, at Christ On The Mountain, 13922 W Utah Ave., Lakewood, Colorado 80228. Reception to follow immediately after the service at the church.
