David was born to Dave and Frances Jorgensen in Sutherland Nebraska. He was the oldest of five siblings. The family moved to Arvada Colorado in 1959. He graduated from Arvada High School in 1965 and went to IBM in Boulder. He was drafted into the Army in March 1966 and served 1 ½ years in Hawaii in Data Processing at Ft. Shafter. He had many accolades for his service; He left the Army as a SP5 and returned home in 1968 and returned to IBM. He was trained by IBM to become a Sr. computer operator.
In the early 1970’s he started working at Storage Technology where he met his wife and was married on December 26, 1975. He then went to work in downtown Denver for Ideal Basic Industries as a Sr. computer operator and also did telecommunications. He worked for them for 15 years before the company moved to Michigan. At that time he went to work for Qwest and was later moved to Dex Yellow pages where he retired in 2012. David worked in Data Processing all his life and loved his work.
He was a stepdad to Jason and known as Papa by his two grandchildren Calista and Jayden. He loved being a grandpa and he loved his family. David was there to help his family and listen.
David’s friends remember him as a man of integrity, loyalty and kindness. He had empathy and compassion for all people.
David’s family will miss him always. He leaves his wife of 45 years, his son and 2 grandchildren and many friends. He is in Heaven and will always be with us.
He is preceded in death by his Dad Dave, Mother Frances and Sister Joyce. He has 3 living siblings Lee Jorgensen, Carol Zakovec and Judy Beach.
