Elda Mae (Almire) Runyan. Born 30 April 1925, Pawnee Kansas. Died 21 April 2017, Lakewood, Colorado; just a few days before her 92nd birthday. The Walter and Mary Almire family lived on a farm in Kansas. In 1937, they moved to Denver, Colorado because of the Dust Bowl. Elda Mae was known as “Daisy”. At age 17, she was baptized as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Two days after she turned 18, she married Albert R. Runyan (2 May 19*43), Denver. They were blessed with three daughters and two sons. Bonnie (Bob) McCullough; Timothy Runyan (deceased); Robert Runyan (Frances); Sylvia (Bill) Bullock; Mary (Russ) Adams. Over their 60 years of marriage, they moved from Denver to rural Arvada; back to Denver; then to Elizabeth, Colorado and back to Denver. Because Albert was an independent contractor, he would build a house, their family would move in; then he would build another house, and the family moved again.
Elda Mae was diligent in learning the skills of homemaking; supporting her husband and children, and served in various Church callings all her life. She like to search her family roots and went all the way to 1600’s in Germany and England. Most of all, she was a master at sensing other people’s needs and administering love.
Elda Mae and Elbert have 16 grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren and at least one great-great grandchild. Funeral services will be held at the LDS Green Mountain Chapel, 13206 West Green Mountain Drive. Lakewood, CO 80228 on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at Ten-Thirty in the morning with a viewing one hour prior. Burial will be at the Elizabeth Colorado Cemetery.
