Elisaida was born on June 14, 1927, in Manassa, Colorado. She moved to Morrison, CO during her first marriage to Samuel Torres to raise their family on a farm. Together, they moved their growing family to Denver around 1957 where Elisaida managed the home and raised her five children.
After the end of her first marriage, she married José Aragon with whom she shared her life until his passing. In those later years with José she enjoyed cruising, dressing up and traveling the world. Her adventurous spirit took her to Spain, Alaska, Hawaii, Peru, Mexico and various places in the US. Most of all she enjoyed gathering with family — and did so as often as possible.
Elisaida was a proud pioneer of Colorado, where her family had called home since before 1900. Her ancestors were among the original settlers of Santa Fe, NM in 1598, passing on that intrepid spirit which she carried with her her entire life. Having lived through the Great Depression as a girl, she had a fierce determination to have a life well lived and learned to treasure everything that brought her joy.
She now joins those who have gone before her: her first and second husbands, Samuel Torres and José Aragon; her sons, Samuel, Jr (Donnie) and Leroy Torres; her parents, Herman and Desideria Duran; her brothers, Andres and Manuel Duran and her sister, Corine Medina and many nieces and nephews.
She is survived by her children, Ernesto and Leonard Torres (Patricia Torres) and Gloria Maloney (James Maloney) and youngest brother José (Alex) Duran.
Her stepchildren Benita Trujillo (Richard), Martin Aragon (Alice) and families.
Her Grandchildren - Christina Espino, Roberta Garcia, Denise Martinez, Amy Duff, Cybil Manzanares, Adriana Long, and Leonard Torres, Jr.
Her Great-Grandchildren - Elena and Mariana Espino; Lorenzo, Alonzo and Orlando Maes; Isaiah Manzanares; Avree Martinez-Jamison, Aubree Martinez; Amber Duff; Andrew Jr., Maynard, and Hank Anastasia Long, Clover Torres and her Great-Great-Grandchildren- Ocean Gray and Jesse Martinez Jamison
We were fortunate to have 5 living generations! She is lovingly remembered for her feisty spirit, warmth and resilience. She will be dearly missed. We love you, Mom.
