Elvira "Vera" Louise Maynes

On Friday, September 5th, 2025, a beautiful soul gained her wings after 87 glorious years on this Earth. Vera was born in Antonito, Co on February 15, 1938. She moved to Denver in her early 20's, where she met her beloved husband of 58 years Lawrence. She departed peacefully in her own home with her loving family by her side. She was a devoted Catholic who believed in the power of prayer and faith and is now in the presence of Jesus Christ.

She was preceded in death by her father Cleofes Valdez and her mother Josefa Valdez. One brother Leroy (Helen) Valdez. Three sisters Connie (Robert) Duran, CeCe (Robert) Flores, Martha (Mike) Duran, loving grandson Michael Maynes and many other family members.

She is survived by her loving husband Lawrence Maynes, son's Derek (Mary) Maynes, Roman (Gwenette) Maynes. Daughter's Anita Maynes, Debbie Jo (Dustin) Murphy. Grandchildren Derek Jr. (Jessica) Maynes, Amber Maynes, Roman (Ahliyah) Maynes, Dominick Maynes-Medina, Tim (Megan) Maynes. Great Grandchildren Nikyla, Taylin, Rayleigh, Milan, Izayah, Alayna, Amelia, Ava, Emanuel, Arianna and Tegan.

She loved taking care of her family, she will always be the light in all our lives. We will never forget her infectious smile that lit up every room she walked into. She was a wonderful Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and Friend and will be deeply missed. Vera's favorite color was Purple, if you would like to honor her by wearing Purple you can, we know she would love it.

Funeral Services will begin with a 10:00 am mass at Holy Ghost Church on 1900 California Street, Denver, CO 80202 (see church parking instructions below).

Burial will follow at Noon everyone will meet at Olinger Crown Hill Cemetery on 7777 W. 29th Avenue, Wheatridge, CO 80033 following the Mass services. When you enter the cemetery proceed to sign B, there should be a van waiting at sign B for everyone to line up, then we will proceed to the grave site.

Reception will follow the cemetery services around 1 pm or so at the American Legion Post 17 on 1901 N. Harlan Street, Edgewater, CO 80214, please join us to celebrate our beautiful Vera's life.
