

Hedwig (Hedi) P. Bridges

Hedi P. Bridges, 84, of Longmont, Colorado passed away unexpectedly and peacefully of natural causes at home on Monday, November 29, 2021 Hedi was born on August 6, 1937 in Langen, Kreis (County of) Wesermuende, Germany to Johann and Charlotte Polfuss.
Hedi spent her teenage years growing up in Bremerhaven Germany with parents and siblings. She worked in her best friend Molly’s parents’ bakery, where she delivered bread on a bicycle when she was 14 years old. When she was older she worked as a clerk in a department store. The department store is where she met Terry (Zane) Bridges who was a soldier in the United States Army. Zane and Hedi were united in marriage in Bremerhaven Germany. On August 23rd, 1960. Shortly after their marriage Zane joined the United States Air Force.
Hedi Left her home in Germany with Zane and their children in 1963 to the US. Hedi and Zane lived in many different states due to Zane’s 20 years of military service. She always put her family first above and beyond herself. She was an awesome wife and mother to her five children. She always had time to listen and help resolve problems and was so supportive. She loved her grandchildren and helped raise many of them as well.
Hedi had a zest for life and had a wonderful sense of humor. She loved to get together with friends and family. She enjoyed playing cards and board games, golfing, skiing and gardening. She loved Colorado and enjoyed being outdoors. She loved camping and fishing.
She is survived by her children, Lottie (Larry Stephenson) of Johnstown, CO; Carrie Stark (Dave West) of Newalla, OK; Dennis (Renee) of Arvada, CO; Terri (Sean Lynch) of Evans, CO and Colin (Lori) of Loveland, CO; grandchildren, Elijah Stephenson; Carin, Travis, Rachel and Ryan Bridges; Mason Lynch; Alicia and Max Bridges; and great grandchildren Isaak Stephenson, Gaven and Brayden (Twins) Bridges and Jaya Bobbett; Sister Irmgard (Immi) Steinmetz and other family and friends.
Hedi will be laid to rest with Zane at Ft. Logan National Cemetery (Colorado) on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at 1:30pm.
