Helen C. Herrington

Helen Clarissa Herrington passed away peacefully at home on March 17, 2020 surrounded by her family. She was born on November 14, 1929 in La Junta, Colorado to Henry C. and Elizabeth Porter. Helen was one of six siblings: Ernest, Lola, Fern, Henry and Judd who all preceded her in death. She married Samuel H. Herrington on November 12, 1950 and they were married for 69 years. Helen and Sam raised four children: Paul Herrington (deceased), Cindy Stevens, Kathy Vowell and Connie Love. She has 2 greandchildren: Sam and Shawn Stevens. Helen Spent many happy years working along side her husband Sam at the Dairy Queen. She also worked for years at Teepee Trading Post and at the Christmas Tree. She loved listening to the Country / Western music of Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, Patsy Cline as well as other singers. One of her favorite pastimes was watching John Wayne movies. The family has many fond memories of big family gatherings on holidays like the Fourth of July, Thanksgiving and Christmas as well as family vacations. There will be a visitation at Advantage Runyan-Stevenson Funeral Home located in Lakewood, Colorado on Wednesday, March 25th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A private graveside service will be held on Thursday, March 26th. The Honorary pallbearers are Keith Stevens, Sam Stevens, Shawn Stevens, Brian Love, Henry C. Porter III and Mark Veltman. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Shriners Hospital. They would appreciate your cards of sympathy and shared memories. They can be mailed to the Herrington family at 6742 W. 3rd Place, Lakewood, CO 80226-1730.
