James Everett Fitch, age 101, passed away on May 10, 2026. Born July 8, 1924, in Sterling, Colorado, James was the only child of William Everett Fitch and Elaine Whittier. He attended Sterling High School and carried forward the steady values of his hometown throughout a long and meaningful life. James resided in Arvada, Colorado.
In 1943, James entered active duty with the United States Coast Guard, serving as a Radioman 1st Class. His years of service reflected a quiet sense of duty and reliability—qualities that continued to define him long after his military service ended. Following his discharge, he built a respected career at Colorado State Bank, where he served as Vice President of Installment Loans, earning trust through diligence, sound judgment, and consistent professionalism.
In 1948, James married Dorothy Kloberdanz. Together they raised three sons—James, William, and Robert—and built a family life rooted in commitment and enduring care. James is survived by his son, Robert, who lovingly cared for him for the past seven years; his granddaughter, Daniell Dinan; his great-grandson, Eliott Fitch; and many extended family members. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy, in 2013; his sons, James Richard Fitch (October 1980) and William Everett Fitch (May 2011); and his grandson, James Eliott Fitch (October 2018).
James found fellowship and community as a member of the BPOE and Elks, and he especially enjoyed time on the golf course—an unhurried pastime that suited his appreciation for tradition, camaraderie, and simple pleasures. At 101 years and 10 months, he could be remembered as a man who enjoyed a life well lived, leaving behind a legacy of steadfast presence and devotion to family.
Jim will be laid to rest at Olinger Crown Hill. Service details are pending.

For Dad
To be heard, without saying a word,
To be hugged when I'm feeling blue,
To be understood, when I'm confused,
So rare was a Dad like you.
Your loving smile, and gentle laugh,
Made all the difference in my day.
Your endless wisdom, and timeless advice
Always helped my find my way.
In you there was no equal,
You were in a class all your own.
And because of all, the love you gave me,
I'll never be alone.
It's an honor to have known you,
To have shared stories and dreams.
I'll aways think of you smiling,
No matter how tough life seems.
You're still special beyond compare,
Your heart so kind and true,
I wish that everyone on earth,m
Could have such a Dad like you!
