Kathy was born on November 4, 1950, in Denver Colorado to Alex and Lillian Duran. Kathy passed away on May 18, 2026, at home after a long and courageous 7-year battle with lung cancer. Kathy is survived by her three children, Michelle Quintana (Chris), Sandra Sifuentes, Zoe Sifuentes and Michael Quintana as well as three grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Alexis Sandee Martinez (Al), brother Michael Duran, nephews Derrick, Christian and A.J. Martinez, niece Estrella Duran and close family friend, Sue Montoya.
Kathy was the heart and center of her family and hosted countless family celebrations at her home on Inca Street in West Denver. She was never too busy to share a meal with you or engage in spirited conversation. Kathy was a peacemaker, but a straight-up person who always said what needed to be said. She was a deeply spiritual woman who prayed the rosary every day and her prayer card was extensive, but she prayed for those lucky individuals by name every day.
Just last month after an Easter celebration with her family she commented that it was the best Easter ever and she hoped the good Lord would give her another year. Regrettably, that was not meant to be. But her illness did not diminish her love for her children, grand and great grandchildren or her two siblings. Kathy maintained a deep sense of appreciation for life despite her illness, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She will live on in the countless memories that she shared with numerous individuals during her lifetime.
Rest in Peace Kathy 😊
