Born in a military family, Kent moved frequently during his early years but was primarily raised in Michigan. After completing college, he moved to Colorado.
Kent dedicated 36 years to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office as a deputy sheriff. His service included Civil and Fugitive investigations, K9 patrol, court security, and work release/detentions. In addition to his professional accomplishments, he was a certified mediator who volunteered his skills in the evenings.
His personal interests included fishing in Colorado reservoirs, on Lake Michigan, Lake Erie, and in Alaska. He frequently traveled to Nebraska with friends for bird hunting. A car enthusiast, Kent enjoyed restoring classic cars and was active in the Mopar Club in Denver. He loved his Harley and attended the Sturgis motorcycle rally often with friends.
Kent had a profound love for his dogs, particularly English setters. He had many trophies and ribbons for showing them. He is survived by his sisters, Kim and Karen (Eric); his niece and nephew, Lisa and David; and his cherished English Setter good boys, Tucker and Buddy.
Kent's legacy is marked by his supportive and helpful nature, qualities that left a lasting impact on those who knew him.
A Celebration of Life will take place from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Advantage Runyan-Stevenson Capitol, 6425 West Alameda Ave, Lakewood, CO 80226.
