It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Eduarda (Lala)Tapia Lucero, a daughter of our loving Heavenly Father. After 91 years of life, she peacefully transitioned from this mortal existence on July 18th, 2026, surrounded by her children and family members in her home of 55 years in Wheat Ridge, CO. Lala was born on October 13, 1934. She was born in Mexico in the town of Tenextepango, Morelos Mexico. She touched many lives with her love, wisdom, and humor. Blessed with boundless energy and the gift to serve her family and those in need.
Lala was a lifelong disciple of our Savior Jesus Christ. She was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She served a full-time mission in Mexico for her Church and was blessed to meet her future husband during her missionary service. She also served in many assignments in the church. She found being a primary teacher to the little children to be one of her favorite callings. She loved teaching the little children about having faith in our Savior Jesus Christ. Lala learned about the importance of faith from her mother and applied it to all parts of her life. She openly shared that faith with others, and friends and family often asked her to pray for those in need.
Among the many milestones of her well-lived life, Lala marked the year 1978 with immense pride. She became a proud citizen of the United States, a feat that underscored her love and devotion to this country. This achievement is but one example that highlights her ability to grow, learn and move forward. One of her greatest gifts and talents was the ability to turn simple humble food into a gourmet feast. She was a talented cook with a great entrepreneurial spirit. She and her husband founded and operated two different restaurants in the Denver area. One was called Lala’s Gourmet Mexican Restaurant located on the 16th Street mall and the other called Lala’s Mexican Delicatessen located in the heart of North Denver off of 32nd and Lowell. She was awarded best green chile in Denver for three consecutive years by the Denver Partnership during the Cinco de Mayo Festival in downtown Denver.
Lala’s greatest accomplishment was raising 5 children all born within a 5-year time frame. Lala’s legacy of love, humor, perseverance, and gospel learning will be carried forward by her children and those who had the privilege of knowing her. Her remarkable life will forever be an inspiration to all those who know her.
She will be greatly missed and forever remembered.
She is preceded in death by her husband Ezekiel Lucero; and survived by her loving children, Saul Lucero (Soledad), Elias Lucero (Maren), Elvia Lucero Westfall (Matt), Carlos Lucero, and Santiago Lucero (Jenny); 20 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren.
A memorial service celebrating Lala’s exceptional life will be held on Friday, August 7, 2026, at 10:30 AM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saint chapel located at 610 Coors St. Golden CO 80401. We invite all who knew and loved Lala to join us honoring her memory.
