Mary W.G. Bender

Mary Bender, 92, died at 5:00 PM, Saturday, April 29, 2017, with her family by her side in her Lakewood home. She was born April 29, 1925 in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin. She married Frank Bender in Denver, Colorado on August 10, 1949.

Surviving are her children Sherry Durell, Steve (Tami) Bender of Littleton, Joe (Patti) Bender of Arvada, Laura (Rick) Fleming of Aurora; eight grandchildren Holly, Burt, Mitch, April, Stephanie, Crystal, Danielle, and Christopher; sixteen great grandchildren; thirteen great-great grandchildren (with one additional on the way).

Mary’s husband Frank Bender, daughter Holly Bender, and grandson Bobby Bender preceded her in death.

Mary was a long time resident of Lakewood where she and Frank built their home and lived since 1956. Mary retired from Gates Rubber Company in 1987.

She loved her family and giving to her family, traveling, gardening, reading, crafting, and shopping.

The visitation is from 5:00 PM until 6:30 PM on Monday May 15, 2017, followed by the Rosary. Celebration of Her Life services will be 10:00 AM on Tuesday May 16, 2017, followed by a graveside farewell at Mount Olivet Cemetery, after which a celebration luncheon will be held at her home in Lakewood.
