On September 24, 1930 Otto and Flora Patterson welcomed a baby girl by the name of Maxine. She grew up with her sister, Shirley. Maxine met Henry K. Ichikawa and fell in love. In 1965 they were married and began building their family. Soon Maxine had two helpers in the garden, a son, Matthew, and a daughter, Sherry.
Maxine loved to garden, she loved flowers, trees, and shrubbery. It gave her a peace to put her hands in the dirt and grow something beautiful. She also had a passion for spending time with her family, especially her great-grandchildren. She worked as a cook in food service, and anyone who got to taste anything that Maxine prepared was better for it. She was the light of her family’s life. Strong, thoughtful and logical, she always knew exactly what she wanted or needed. She planned ahead and was good at deciding things.
Her husband, Henry, precedes Maxine in death. She is survived by her daughter, Sherry L. Cochran; son, Matthew K. Ichikawa; grandson, Bradley K. Ruggles; great-grandchildren, Adryan K. Ruggles, Leilani A. Ruggles, and Annabella M. Ruggles; extended family members, and friends. Maxine will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Memorials may be made to her beloved son and grandson at 4711 Elizabeth St. Denver, CO 80216, or brought directly to the funeral home the day of the service.
Maxine will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at 11am at Advantage Runyan Stevenson Chapel in Lakewood. She will be laid to rest with her husband at Olinger Crown Hill Cemetery.
