Phyllis Jean (Reagan) Jacques, a lifelong Coloradoan and longtime parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, died peacefully on May 5, 2026, at the age of 91. Born June 30, 1934, in Denver, Phyllis grew up in south Denver, where enduring friendships took root at St. Francis de Sales parish and remained a steady thread throughout her life.
Phyllis was a 1952 graduate of St. Francis High School. After attending Loretto Heights College for two years, she married Jerry Jacques of Denver and spent several happy years as a teacher. As her family grew, Phyllis devoted herself full time to her children, bringing to family life a steady presence and a generous spirit, while also remaining active in parish and community activities.
In 1979, Phyllis began a successful 25-year career as an employment placement counselor with Welley Personnel and Phillips Personnel. Through diligence and professionalism, she rose to become a top producer in a competitive field. She also contributed her leadership to the Colorado Association of Placement Counselors, serving as the group’s president in 1991.
Phyllis lived an extraordinarily full life, marked by faithfulness, warmth, and a readiness to show up for others. She was deeply engaged in her children’s lives, her church, and many community activities. She loved a good meal out—especially if it included a chocolate dessert with friends and family, and she treasured mountain park picnics. On the ski slopes she was slow and steady, while her children waited patiently at the bottom of the mountain. She was often the first to lend a hand, and the first to arrive with a casserole when illness or tragedy struck.
A keen traveler, Phyllis especially cherished Ireland with her father and several siblings, and Italy and the Netherlands with her sister, Eileen. In spring and summer, she could be found in her garden, which she diligently kept up well into her seventies, with a special love for her roses. As retirement approached, she began organizing quarterly gatherings for her St. Francis High classmates—get-togethers that were deeply meaningful to her and to the friends who shared that history.
Phyllis is survived by her siblings, Judy Laws (Jon), Mike Reagan, and Kathy Griffin; her four children, Kim (Dan), Ken (Chris), Karen, and Kevin (Kathy); six grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Tom; sister Eileen; her parents John Henry and Adelaide McCoy Reagan; and her stepmother, Lorene Reagan.
The Funeral Mass for Phyllis will be held Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 1985 Miller St, Lakewood, CO 80215, with a reception to follow. Those planning to attend the reception are kindly asked to please RSVP to [email protected]
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless.
