Ricardo Francisco Tellez, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend passed away on Thursday February 13th, 2014. Rick leaves behind a wife and three children as well as three siblings. Two of his kids have children of their own. A total of six grandchildren and one great grandchild could be running around his feet at any time. Rick's great grandson was given the middle name Rickardo out of the respect and love that Rick's granddaughter had for him. His "babies," as he came to call them, were the object of his affection as he watched them grow and learn from the children that he raised.
As a father he was of the highest caliber. He taught his children to be equally as honorable and hardworking as himself. The ability to teach these things to reluctant siblings and children is not an easy skill to come by. It requires love and a lot of patience. At times his patience may have run thin, but at no point did his love fail. For this reason he was able to lead his family through many difficult times; including the loss of his daughter Alicia Tellez. The strength he exhibited was only matched by the love he had for his family. This love made him the best of fathers and husbands.
As a husband, there was no truer man than he to his first and only true love, Pat. He never missed a birthday or anniversary; an accomplishment aided by his vast memory. Even in recent days he was able to sit with one of his kids and flawlessly recount the stories, either good or bad, of his young love for their mother. This mentoring gave his kids the ability to eventually find true love of their own. Each of them knew that they could go to him for advice, and although sometimes they may not have wanted to hear it they knew that they could always count on him to give it. This role model of love, support, and devotion has blessed his family with countless days of happiness.
To his friends and past coworkers he was a loyal and caring man. He put honesty and trust above all; which made him a hard worker that devoted himself fully to anyone that was lucky enough to be close with him. His sense of humor and charm was only surpassed by his quick wit. He had an uncanny ability to make people like him, but he was also able to be the hard-nosed and intimidating protector of those he loved most.
Rick will be sorely missed by those fortunate enough to call him husband, dad, grandpa, brother, or friend.
